Our Trainers
Joe Shepherd (Owner) Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Joe started CrossFitting in 2007 and found great results that he could not attain anywhere else. Since then his desire and drive to continue his pursuit of elite fitness drove him to start BLAST Fitness with Matt Morgan. Joe has been a Level 1 CrossFit trainer since April 2008.
Matt Morgan (Owner) Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Matt was introduced to CrossFit by Joe and John Howard in 2007. Matt had previously been spending his time laying about watching television and thinking about “going to the gym”. Since then Matt has found the desire to train others and show them the benefits of what he has found in CrossFit. Matt is a co-founder of BLAST Fitness and has been a Level 1 CrossFit trainer since May 2008.

Since leaving the United Stated Army (Infantry) in July 2003., Travis has been working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and fitness manager. Although he works for your “typical” fitness facility, he firmly believes that the CrossFit training method delivers the best results for overall fitness. He currently holds three personal trainer certifications; CrossFit Level 1, ACE (American Council on Exercise) and ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association). Travis also holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Indiana University. No excuses, no whining. Never said it would be easy… just worth it! See you there!
Carissa Bowling: Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Carissa’s (Riss) passion for fitness began with her gymnastics career many years ago. She began strength training in high school and never stopped. Carissa had been told about CrossFit for six months and finally decided to give it a try. She realized that it combined two of her favorite things, gymnastics and weight lifting (and much more). Carissa never turned back. She’s been an avid member of the CrossFit family since September 2008 and became Level 1 certified in January 2009. Carissa also has three years coaching experience. Come check us out and we’ll make believers out of you too!
Lauren Keeler: Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Justin Reese: Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Chris Estridge: Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Chris has been involved with sports and athletics his entire life. He was introduced to Crossfit by his brother-in-law and co-owner, Joe Shepherd. Ever since the grand opening of BLAST Fitness, Chris has been an avid Crossfitter even while attending Ball State University. At school, he is seeking a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Business. Chris furthered his Crossfit experience and knowledge with a Level 1 Certification which was completed in April of 2009. He can’t stress it enough that Crossfit is the best form of exercise he has ever encountered. Speaking from personal experience, Chris says that if you are looking to get in the best shape of your life then Crossfit is it!
Tricia Shepherd: Level 1 CrossFit Trainer
Tricia was introduced to CrossFit by her husband and BLAST Fitness Owner, Joe Shepherd, in March of 2008. Tricia became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in April 2008. Tricia has always enjoyed working out and was a member of a local ‘big box gym’, but was not seeing any measurable results. Once Tricia began incorporating CrossFit, she started seeing the results she was looking for. Then in July 2008 Tricia and Joe found out they were expecting their second child, Keagan, and unfortunately the intensity at which she was training had to decrease. That is when Tricia was introduced to CrossFit for Moms and throughout her pregnancy she was still able to CrossFit. This allowed for minimal weight gain and the endurance needed for a healthy delivery. As a result, Tricia was able to resume CrossFit six weeks after delivery and is back in the gym! CrossFit is a great way for busy mom’s like Tricia to get in a complete workout and not have to take a huge chunk of the day to achieve the results you are looking for. Tricia would encourage anyone of any age, size or shape to come check us out and give CrossFit a try for at least three months and watch your body transform! It is an amazing transformation – physically and mentally! See you at the gym!!
